So as I said earlier, we went to celebrate Kirsi’s sister’s, my sister-in-law’s, Phd in micro-biology.
Kirsi was extremely nervous before-hand about making a speech, but Karita assured her that it wasn’t necessary. But everybody decided they wanted to make some kind of speech so the pressure to make one grew as they went from table to table towards our little group.
In normal circumstances, it’s Kirsi who’s the more sociable one of us and being a performing artist, she said afterwards that she would have rather danced than speak. But even that kind of performing is nerve-wracking for her, so needless to say, I was quite aware of Kirsi’s problem and decided something had to be done…
