Since my old camera was/is a Canon XL-1 I have a nice detachable lense that is still usable but I don’t think you can get a whole lot of video at once.

You can pick up a Canon 5D for under $1,000 USD, and I’m sure if you had a collection of prime lenses for the camera you destroyed, you’re covered in the lenses department. It shoots 1080p and works as both a regular picture camera and video camera. I’m not a big digital guy myself, but I enjoy working with this camera.
